What is CTE?

Career and Technical Education (CTE) combines academic learning with hands-on training to prepare students for both college and careers.

It covers a wide range of fields such as healthcare, technology, and skilled trades, offering real-world experience and industry-recognized certifications. These programs not only enhance student engagement, but also provide pathways to industry-recognized certifications and higher earning potential. CTE has a higher focus on practical experience rather than academic testing that AP and IB courses are known for. This equips students with the tools necessary for meaningful and sustainable careers.

Pathways

A CTE Pathway is a sequence of three courses (Introductory, Concentrator, Capstone) in an industry sector. These courses provide a set of skills that culminate in a demonstration of those skills that meet industry standards.

Woodcreek High School offers the following programs of study:

CTE Electives

Woodcreek High School offers 3D animation and Childhood Development as CTE elective courses that are available in addition to our programs of study.

Benefits of Taking CTE Courses

  • Industry connections
  • Opportunity to apply learned skills
  • Equal emphasis on academics and career training
  • Provides relevance to academic learning

RJUHSD Internship Program

The RJUHSD Career Technical Education (CTE) Internship Program gives students a chance to explore different jobs and learn important skills needed for today’s workplaces.

This internship is a hands-on work experience that builds on what students learn in their CTE classes.

Students who complete two or more years in a CTE program can apply for an internship each semester.

To learn more about becoming a student intern, to get information about the specific internships available, or to ask questions about the internship program, please contact Anna Gonzalez-Cifuentes at agcifuentes@rjuhsd.us and/or enroll in our RJUHSD Internship Program Canvas.

More information can be found on our district's Internship Program webpage.
